Know what you are keeping

Species records with names checked against the scientific catalog, photographs credited to the people who took them, care notes written by keepers, and the legal status you need before you buy.

What this is

A reference you can check

Most care information for invertebrates lives in scattered forum threads and dealer pages, and a lot of it contradicts itself. Invertia collects it in one place, keyed to scientific names, so you can compare species instead of guessing.

Every record shows where its facts come from. Taxonomy is resolved against the GBIF Backbone, so the names and families here match the scientific catalog rather than whatever a shop called the animal. Photographs are credited to the people who took them. Legal status is summarised from CITES and national sources, with the reasoning written out.

Slow, forgiving, and hard to kill through ordinary mistakes. None of them need handling to be worth keeping.

Where this is going

Being straight about what is here

This is an early site and it covers 30 species, not the whole hobby. Care values are curated from keeper practice and are marked as such, not dressed up as veterinary fact. A price index and a dealer directory are planned, and they are switched off until there is real data behind them rather than numbers we made up.
